Swearing off piracy, realizing that it really didn't change anything.

music: Kettel - Days for Bennet | Scrobbled by Last.fm

After the initial few weeks of absolute abstinence from downloading music, I realized that I can't listen to Oingo Boingo and Sleater Kinney the rest of my life.
(well, I could, but... yeah.)
This morning I have been exploring the world of music that the artists want me to download, for free.

This is working out quite well.

for example:
http://freealbums.blogsome.com/
Which has a post featuring some pretty good ska

and there is last.fm
http://www.last.fm/music/+free/

and all the shit listed here:
http://mashable.com/2008/06/30/free-legal-music-sites/

and I've been using songbird as an interface for this whole process.
I am not sure about songbird still. I sort of get how it works, but I know that if I sat my grandparents they'd have no idea what was going on.
I suspect the same would be true for a lot of people I know (if working an iPod is hard...).

regardless of that, I prefer this setup (philosophically) a lot more than the pay to rent sites like zune.

ETA: I like this song.

Agreed. At first I thought it was a bloated iTunes clone.
I just wish it was better at culling embedded mp3s from last.fm.
